Enjoy Student Centered Discussions in the Virtual Classroom with Flipgrid

Hey, hey teacher friends! I hope you are enjoying a summery June – it has been unbelievably rainy over here! We’ve been fighting the most epic of colds, so this week’s content has taken some determination. But, I wasn’t going to let that stop me from bringing you episode 5 of 5 (what?! I feel like we just started!!) of our current series on the Simple Tools for the Online Teacher Podcast. Remember, if you want a PDF file at your fingertips automatically with all the software swaps mentioned in this edtech series, you can grab it right now at onlineteacherallyson.com/swap

In this week’s episode…

We are simplifying student lead discussions in the online classroom. This is an edtech tool that works for in person, virtual, and hybrid learners. I talk about this in today’s podcast episode, but I LOVE Socratic Seminars. I know. I’m a nerd. But, I love watching it stretch my students. I love how it teaches them to respectfully disagree. I love playing devil’s advocate with them. Do you love Socratic Seminars, too? Sound off in the comments!

How do I do this?

At this point, you’re probably asking yourself “What the heck is this super fantastic edtech resource, Allyson?” Well, if you missed it in the title, your answer my friend, is Flipgrid. I go into detail on this week’s podcast episode, so I won’t bore you here. But, I think you’re going to love it. Here’s a quick preview below – and your own personal pep talk if video isn’t exactly your thing.

You can find this wherever you find podcasts, or just click here!

And don’t forget…

For all you visual learners, I am in the process of creating video tutorials for each of the edtech resources. These tutorials will be much more in depth and will help you create a lesson right along with me. Space will be limited, so make sure you are on my email list! They are always the first to know. You can automatically add yourself at onlineteacherallyson.com/swap. You will also get the free PDF download I’ve been mentioning throughout this series, and mentioned earlier in this blog post. I’m so excited for this series, and I can’t wait to get it out there to you later this summer.

That’s all for now, teacher friends! I can’t wait to hear what you create with Flipgrid. Keep me posted!
